Abstract

A tanulmány azt vizsgálja, hogyan szerveződött a jelölés a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia IX. osztályában 1990 és 2024 között. A jelölést nem adminisztratív előzményként, hanem a tudományos elismerés intézményi termelésének egyik belépési mechanizmusaként értelmezi: olyan szakaszként, ahol a támogatás megszerveződik, és láthatóvá válnak a szakterületi határok, a kapuőrzés és a jelölői együttmozgás mintázatai. Az elemzés az MTA hivatalos jelölési és választási dokumentációjára, valamint a Magyar Tudomány különszámaira épül; az adatbázis 13 választási ciklust és 468, IX. osztálybeli jelölőktől származó ajánlási kapcsolatot tartalmaz. A tanulmány leíró hálózati megközelítéssel vizsgálja a jelölő-jelölt bipartit hálózat blokkosodását, a blokkok közötti átjárást és a projektált együttjelölési hálózat koncentrációját. Az eredmények szerint a jelölési hálózat tartósan szakterületi blokkosodást mutat: a támogatás döntő része a saját tudományterületi körökön belül marad. A blokkok között létezik átjárás, de korlátozott, és több ciklusban néhány aktív közvetítőhöz kötődik. A tanulmány hozzájárulása a tudományszociológiához, hogy a tudományos elismerés intézményi működését nem a végső választási kimenetnél, hanem a jelölési támogatás megszerveződésénél teszi vizsgálhatóvá. |This study examines how nominations were organized in Class IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences between 1990 and 2024. Rather than treating nomination as a merely administrative preliminary step, the paper conceptualizes it as an entry mechanism in the institutional production of scientific recognition: a stage where support is assembled and where disciplinary boundaries, gatekeeping, and patterns of nominator co-movement become observable. The analysis draws on the Academy’s official nomination and election documents and on special issues of Magyar Tudomány; the dataset covers 13 election cycles and 468 nomination ties made by nominators belonging to Class IX. Using a descriptive network approach, the paper examines bloc formation in the bipartite nominator– nominee network, inter-bloc crossings, and the concentration of support in the projected co-nomination network. The findings show that the nomination network is durably structured by disciplinary blocs: most support remains within the same disciplinary circles. Inter-bloc crossing is present but limited, and in several cycles it is tied to a small number of active intermediaries. The study’s sociological contribution is to make the institutional production of scientific recognition observable not at the final stage of election outcomes, but at the earlier stage where nomination support is organized.
