Abstract

Sokan a téli háborút a II. világháború „főpróbájának” tekintik, bár 1939. november 30-án kezdődött, három hónappal a világégés kitörését követően, de tanulságai nagyban hatottak a világháborús hadviselő felek későbbi gondolkodására. A konfliktus az 1940. március 13-án aláírt moszkvai békeszerződéssel zárult, melynek következtében Finnország jelentős területeket vesztett, s így 1941-ben újra hadba szállt a Szovjetunióval szemben, ezért nevezzük ezt „folytatólagos háborúnak”. A tanulmány a történelmi előzmények és a téli háború lefolyásának rövid összefoglalása után a nemzetközi, és benne a magyar önkéntesek szerepére fókuszál. | Many consider the Winter War to be a "dress rehearsal" for World War II, even though it began on November 30, 1939, three months after the outbreak of the global conflict. Nevertheless, its lessons had a significant impact on the subsequent thinking of the belligerents in World War II. The conflict ended with the Moscow Peace Treaty signed on March 13, 1940, as a result of which Finland lost significant territories and thus went to war again against the Soviet Union in 1941, which is why we call it the "Continuation War." After a brief summary of the historical background and the course of the Winter War, the study focuses on the role of international volunteers, including Hungarian ones.
