Abstract

The authors processed bag data obtained in the hunting season 1999/2000 for 9 waterfowl species huntable in Hungary: Anser fabalis, Ans er albifrons, Anas platyrhynchos, Anas querquedula, Anas crecca, Aythya ferina, Bucephala clangula, Fúlica atra and Scolopax rusticóla. Bag data were summarized for each county as well as for the total area of Hungary (Table 1.). Distribution of bags on the country is represented for each species in maps (Map 1-9.). In course of evaluation, the following were determined: distribution of bags of huntable waterfowl species between the certain regions (Table 2.), furthermore the dominance of goose species (Table 3., Figure 2.) in each of the regions investigated. Tables I-XIX. contain code numbers of each hunting range, their name, numbers of waterfowl bagged in the certain ranges (separately for each species). In the hunting season 1999/2000 for goose bags significant increasing (38%) was experienced: numbers of bagged geese amounted merely to 7235 birds, being by 1999 birds more than in the season 1998/1999 (5236 individuals). In case of the two species dealt with, changes in bags differed from each other: numbers of Anser fabalis increased by 33,8% (+1514 birds) whereas those of Anser albifrons experienced increments of 63,9% (+485 individuals)
