Abstract
Consumer protection has become one of the most popular and socially significant areas of Hungarian legal thought, especially since the regime change. This is evidenced by the fact that, since then, a vast body of legislation, court rulings, administrative decisions, and other measures have been adopted. At the same time, a lively academic discourse has emerged: numerous books, studies, articles, and other publications on the subject are published each year. For all these reasons, justifying the uniqueness, novelty, or even the legitimacy of a monographic volume such as the one under review poses a considerable challenge. In the case of the work presented here, its distinctiveness lies primarily in its diversity–as it covers not only legal but also historical, philosophical, economic-financial, marketing, and other perspectives–as well as in its orientation and clearly articulated standpoint, namely, that the regulation should focus on the consumer as a human being rather than on serving consumption itself, which sets it apart from many other valuable works in the field of consumer protection.
