A könyv a léptékek hierarchiáját, a mintázatok, részletek és az ornamentika szerepét, valamint a vizuális rend és az emberi érzékelés kapcsolatát vizsgálja. The book examines hierarchies of scale, the role of patterns, detail and ornament, and the relationship between visual order and human perception. Rather than offering stylistic formulas, it proposes general ordering principles found both in traditional and vernacular architecture and in natural structures. At the same time, it challenges approaches that place abstraction above human aesthetic needs.
