Abstract
Az Európa Tanács éves büntetés-végrehajtási statisztikája, a SPACE I (Statistiques Pénales Annuelles du Conseil de l’Europe) 1983-as alapítása óta a nemzetközi komparatív kriminológia egyik legmeghatározóbb adatforrása. A vizsgálat fókusza a bebörtönzési ráták mellett kiterjed a fogvatartottak demográfiai összetételére, a bűncselekménytípusok eloszlására és a büntetési tételek strukturális elemzésére. Fontos leszögezni, hogy a statisztikai adatok megbízhatósága és a belőlük levont stratégiai következtetések érvényessége közvetlenül a jelentés mögött álló szigorú módszertani keretrendszertől függ, melyre hatást gyakorolnak a tagországok eltérő büntetés-végrehajtási rendszerei. | The annual prison statistics of the Council of Europe, SPACE I (Statistiques Pénales Annuelles du Conseil de l’Europe), has been one of the most significant data sources in international comparative criminology since its establishment in 1983. Its importance lies in providing a unified methodological framework that enables the comparison of the highly diverse legal and penitentiary systems of the 46 member states. The primary objective of the 2025 report is to capture the current state and annual dynamics of penitentiary systems. In addition to incarceration rates, the study focuses on the demographic composition of inmates, the distribution of offence types, and the structural analysis of sentencing patterns. It is important to emphasise that the reliability of statistical data and the validity of strategic conclusions drawn from them depend directly on the rigorous methodological framework underlying the report, which is influenced by the differing penitentiary systems of the member states.
