Abstract
The methodology of product design, and in a broader sense, Product Engineering has undergone significant development in the recent period. The paper approaches the field from the point of view of the competitive aspects of product design. It discusses how the actual industrial challenges appear in the product design. An outline is given on a multi-aspect, practically used measurement method to measure the performance of the process.
