Abstract
By the second half of the 2010s, Türkiye had unquestionably become an unavoidable geopolitical actor not only in the Mediterranean basin but also in the Middle East. Ankara’s cultural and economic influence on the Islamic world is by no means negligible; nevertheless, it was most likely the rapid development of military capabilities that captured global attention. One of the earliest and most serious tests of Turkish drone technology was the Syrian civil war, where unmanned aerial vehicles had to operate in close cooperation with ground forces. In this article, the author aims to present the results achieved by Turkish military drones in Syria and examine how these experiences influenced Ankara’s military doctrine.
