Abstract

| The study examines the characteristics of the New Right gaining strength in Latin America and the reasons behind its success by 2026. The rise of this group is driven by the crisis facing traditional parties, dissatisfaction with governments, economic uncertainty, and above all, a growing demand for public safety, which has also become a topic of debate regarding the limits of liberal democracy. They are characterized by leader-centered and populist politics, social media-based communication, a pro-law-and-order stance, cultural conflicts, and a unique blend of economic liberalism and nationalism. The study notes that these political actors do not constitute a unified “far-right” bloc and that their relationship to democratic institutions varies. After examining their ties to the United States and Europe, the study seeks to determine whether the current shift to the right is a lasting political era or a temporary fluctuation in Latin American political cycles.
