Abstract
The wording of Prosp., vocat. gent . 1. 4. 7 seems to go back to a now lost passage in Sallust. This hypothesis is argued by analyzing parallels which are found in the Latin translation of Flavius Josephus’ De bello Iudaico and in Cassiodorus’ De anima .
