Abstract
The poets of Greek New Comedy often arouse the expectations of the audience with the aim of cheating them. Menander often employs these means of comic effects. This paper aims to examine four problems: firstly, the individual traits of the type figures, secondly, the introduction of unfulfilled motifs, then the figure of Chrysis in Samia and finally the dramatic developments in Act V.
