Abstract
The study briefly sketches the process of the birth of the wine bottle label and how it became one of the most important signs of the wine bottle, the wine it contained and the wine-maker. The design and the making of the wine bottle labels have the same typical 20<sup>th</sup>-century history as the wine itself.
