Abstract
Al-27 NMR measurements in the liquid and the solid state were applied for studying the formation of Keggin-type structures and Al-, Al,Fe-, and Al,Cr-pillared layer clays. The possibility of isomorphous substitution of Al for Fe or Cr in the pillars was also investigated. It was unambiguously revealed that tetrahedral aluminium cannot be substituted by either iron or chromium in Al-13-Keggin ion salts prepared by conventional methods.
