Abstract
Though the social science pays no considerable attention to the questions of giving birth and of the birth’s quality, this problem, primarily owing to the professional and social discussions about alternative birth methods, secondly because of the long term effects of the birth’s and giving birth’s quality, and thirdly due to its social critical attitude, raises anthropological questions about gender relations, social and professional hierarchy, the possession of power and about man as bio-psycho-social being. Of the several possible approaches this thesis focuses on the perception of womanhood which I wish to present through an unconventional model, the holistic model, and on a practical level through the example of home birth.
