Abstract

We describe a novel preparative method for the photopolymerization of C-60 in gram quantities. The monomer was recycled during fh reaction by a liquid phase transport giving rise to a high yield of the polymer. For the first time, the cycloadduct dimer and the solubl mixtures of various higher oligomers were extracted from the phototransformed material. The influence of the preparation temperature o: the yield and on the structure of the formed polymer is discussed. At around 80 degreesC, photopolymerization is a competitive method for th production of pure dimer.
