Abstract
During the failure analysis, fractographic investigations provide useful tool aiming at revealing the fracture regions or investigating the mechanisms of the damage process. Beside the qualitative features fractography also ensures several quantitative characteristics to be determined. The current paper gives a short presentation on the dynamic failure processes of Si 3 N 4 based ceramics using fractography.
