Abstract
Laser scanning, as a novel data acquisition technique, broadens its application field in civil engineering projects, for example road, railway and bridge construction. The author’s aim to prove that this technology could be effectively applied in engineering survey projects as well. To confirm terrestrial laser scanning’s position among the technologies of engineering survey, careful analysis is required; both laboratory and on-field measurements have been carried out. The results from the on-field projects showed that the technology could be reasonably applied in engineering survey applications. Laser scanning can be considered as a capable additional measurement method in surveying engineering structures.
