Abstract
A structural analysis of Menander's Dyskolos reveals that the various scenes are linked by a series of recurring literary motifs (phrases, objects and actions) that also contribute to the characterization of the various actors, and especially to that of Rnemon. The final scene of this drama appears to be ironically ambiguous: the 'happy end' includes Dyskolos' punishment who must attend a meeting of the very crowd that he hates.
