Abstract

A kutatási projekt utolsó szakaszában a 2. évben megkezdett infravörös spektroszkópiai méréseket terjesztettük ki a vizsgált xenolit-lelőhelyek mindegyikére. A méréseket Budapesten végeztük. | In the final period of the research project, we have continued the infrared spectroscopy measurements on the selected mantle xenoliths. We have extended the measurements to all studied xenolith locations. The measurements were carried out in Budapest and show the followings: - Xenoliths from the deep subcontinental mantle lithosphere have higher water content than those from the shallow upper mantle in the same xenolith locations. Furthermore, the main task of the final project phase was to summarize the data in a unified database gathered during the 3 years of research. Moreover, a preliminary velocity-field model and geodynamic model was also developed. Most of the results have been published or are in the process of publishing. As the main results of the research project we have to state that the recently expected ""subduction roll-back"" model should be revised, because the trends observed in the deformation patterns and the water content in the subcontinental mantle lithosphere contradict with the roll-back model. Our results imply that the asthenosphere ""escaping"" from the alpine collision zone should have played a dominant role in the formation of the Pannonian Basin
