Abstract

A kutatás 2 monográfiát és 30 további közleményt eredményezett. Munkatervi pontok szerint: 1. E. Szabó László saját fizikalista matematikafilozófiáját mindenekelőtt a valószínűségszámítás fizikalista értelmezése és fizikai elméletekben játszott szerepe vizsgálatában fejlesztette tovább, és érvelt a valószínűség szokásos értelmezéseinek tarthatatlansága mellett. Egy másik tanulmányában a téridő geometriájára vonatkozó elméletek logikai-empiricista elemzésével kimutatta a speciális-relativisztikus fizika lorentziánus és einsteini változatának azonosságát. A fizikai elméletek matematikai formalizálására vonatkozó eredmények közül a reichenbachi közös ok-elv vizsgálatát (Rédei, E. Szabó) kell kiemelni, mely az elv szempontjából releváns fogalmak pontos matematikai explikációján és a fogalmi apparátus lényeges kibővítésén keresztül vezetett a kauzalitás problémakörének teljes újrafogalmazásához. Rédei Miklós cikeki tartalmazzák számos ide vonatkozó új fogalom kidolgozását. 2. A fizikalizmus alternatívái: A strukturalizmus alapjául szolgáló kategóriaelmélet, ill. kategoriális logika új, eredeti felépítését adta Csaba Ferenc munkája. Simonyi András a Benacerraf-dilemma realista megoldásának lehetőségét vázolta fel. 3. A történeti kutatások középpontjában a modern logika és a matematikafilozófia magyarországi története állt. Új eredmény mindenekelőtt Kőnig Gyula idevágó munkásságának feldolgozása és a modern logika harmincas évek-beli, első recepciójának bemutatása. | The result of the research project is 2 monographs and 30 other publications. According to the main points of the research plan: 1. László E. Szabó developed his own physicalist approach, first of all, in his physicalist interpretation of probability theory. He investigated the role of probability theory in physical theories and concluded with the claim that the traditional interpretations of probability are entirely untenable. Among the research items concerning the mathematical formalization of physical theories, we mention the results achieved in the field of the Reichenbachian common cause principle (Rédei, Szabó). Through precise mathematical formulation and developing a relevant conceptual machinery, there have been elaborated a novel approach to the problems of stochastic causality. We mention Rédei's papers which contain several new conceptual developments in this field. 2. Alternatives to physicalism: A novel reconstruction of category theory and categorical logic, which can serve as a new basis of mathematical structuralism, has been provided in Csaba's book. András Simonyi outlined a realist resolution of the Benacerraf dilemma. 3. The main focus of the historical branch of our research has been on the Hungarian history of logic and philosophy of mathematics. First of all we mention the renewed interpretation of Gyula Kőnig's works, and our research concerning the first Hungarian reception of modern logic in the 1930's.
