Abstract
Possible Applications of Liquid State, Time Domain NMR for Analyses in Forest Products Industry. Abstract: In this paper we present the basics of NMR relaxometry as a method of choice to investigate the water uptake of wood materials or products. We determined the amount of water, adsorbed by homemade particle board, by means of high resolution 400 MHz NMR and low resolution 20 MHz NMR relaxometer. We found that the saturation took place less than 7 hours. The determined values obtained by the two NMR instruments were in good agreement and also agreed with the result of classical analysis. Our conclusion is that the low resolution relaxometry could be useful in everyday industrial application in some cases while the high resolution NMR could be powerful tool of basic research in this field.
