Abstract

A pályázat nem a nulláról indult, készen volt a szöveg nyers változata és a Bevezetés első részeként (mintegy két ívnyi terjedelemben) fel tudtam vázolni Bessenyei programjának szerkezetét. Hátra volt azonban mindaz, amit amit forráskutatásnak neveznek s amelyhez az itthon hozzáférhető könyv- és kézirattári anyagok csak kis részben voltak segítségemre, igénybe kellett venni a Bibliotheque Nationale könyvanyagát. Lényegében három fajta feladatot kellett elvégeznem. Az első a konkrét források felderítése, azután azok a feladatok, ahol konkrét források felderítésére nem volt remény, itt az un. forrásvidékek felderítése volt a cél s végül utánanéztem két-három olyan nagy témának, amelyekhez Bessenyei munkássága tipológiai szempontból kapcsolódik, de ahol inkább csak e kapcsolódás jellegének a meghatározása lehetett csak a feladat. Úgy gondolom, mind a három vonatkozásban sikerrel jártam, ha itt-ott esetleg kevesebbet értem el, azt kipótolták a más területeken elért többleteredmények. A pályázati idő utolsó évét (a szöveg többszöri átnézése mellett) elsősorban a Bevezetés megírására fordítottam s a korábbi két ív helyett egy több, mint tizenkét íves munka kerededett ki. A kötet minden írásának háttéranyagáról beszámoltam, feltártam a szöveghagyomány részleteit s e leírások nyomán felrajzolódott a program genezise is. A kézirat azóta - lektorálás után, javítva - a kiadónál van, a munkálatok elkezdődtek. | The project was already underway when receiving the grant: the draft version of the text had already been prepared, and as the first part of the Introduction, I had geen able to outline the structure of Bessenyei's programme (in approx. 14.000 words). But everything that fals under the term ''source rechearch'' was still to come, the books and manuscripts available in Hungary, were only partially useful, I needed to utilize the collection of Bibliotheque Nationale. I had to perform three basic tasks. The first was to discover the specific sources. Second, I had tasks related to works where ne specific identification was possible: in these cases, the goal was to trace back the so-called ''source areas''. Finally, I performed research into two or three general topics to which Bessenyei's oeuvre is related from the typological aspect. In my opinion, I was succesful in all three tasks. Even if I achieved less than expected in certain respects, the additinal results in other areas compensated for this. Please find atttached an additional, more detailed (but still necessarily high level) report on these. In addition to the exhaustive checks and editing performed on the text, I used the last year of the grant to write the Introduction, instead of the original 14 000 words, I developed it into a work of more than 90 000 words. The manuscript now, after proofing and correction, is at te publisher, where it us currently under process.
