Abstract
The study gives data about the biology of the earwig Forficula smyrnensis, - recorded for first time in Hungary in 2004 - particularly about behaviour (cleaning, courtship, copula), moving activity (hiding, flight), feeding (cannibalism), oviposition (maternal care), development, etc. obtained from rearing several generations in the laboratory. The specimens initiating the laboratory culture were captured nearby the Lake Balaton (W-Hungary) from the known normest zone of the area of the species.
