Abstract
COLLECTIVE VINEYARDS IN HUNGARY; ARCHITECT: Prof DEZSŐ EKLER Wine production in Hungary has inspired the examination of the winery building type as a new genre in industrial architectural design. From the humble roots of a small agricultural press house and adjacent wine cellar found on the side of many hills a new building type has been grown, which much like a hill is massive, functional and conceals the idea of a subterranean cellar. Ekler has experimented in this genre creating his own brand of "vincellérház" "winecellarhouse" that do not conform to the expected rural aesthetic. They are bold, dynamic and to some extent confrontational.
