Abstract
OATMEAL FACTORY, XINZHOU, CHINA; ARCHITECTS: JOHAN SARVAN and FLORENT BUIS The project consists of the creation of an Oatmeal factory, transforming raw oat into flour-based products. The production process, which is predominately automated, requires two different production lines with high volume machinery and observation spaces open to the public including a shop, café, and office spaces. Unusually for a contemporary factory building brickwork has been used throughout which suits the local, mining and industrial aesthetic.
