Abstract

A model system of amorphous NiP is calculated by molecular dynamics. A rapid quench from liquid to solid and a subsequent deep-freezing to 5 K is investigated, simulating by computer the rapid cooling from 2000 K to 300 K, yielding a glass-state. Subsequently the system was further cooled, and then reheated to 300 K. A detailed Voronoi analysis is given to follow the change in short-range order. Characteristic differences have been observed between the two states at 300 K. A possible relaxation effect is discussed.
