Abstract
This work is devoted to George Ugrin, the younger brother of Moses Ugrin and Ephraim Novotorzhsky, who was widely known in old Russian history and literature. The author has collected and has briefly analysed all sources, in which George Ugrin is men-tioned. This work considers George Ugrin's biography, the issue of his sanctity, as well as the icons and miniatures with his image. The author also provides a critical analysis of the his-torical foundations of the story "George Ugrin", which appeared in 2000 in Russia, and which puts forward, in an artistic form some hypotheses about the origin of the three broth-ers, and also about the George Ugrin's relationship to Prince Boris of Rostov. In the end of the paper, relevant fragments from sources (such as church annals, legends of saints etc.) are presented, which serve as the evidence on which the arguments put forward in this paper rest.
