Abstract

Our Institute celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of its foundation. This gives me the occasion to a short standstill and to look back upon the fifty years passed. By right of the celebration I should like — with your kind permission — to take pride a little bit in the history of the Institute. I do not want to praise ourselves, but to mention the achievements inherited from our predecessors, i.e. their work, their example in tireless research work.
