Abstract
SHANAHAN, Mike: RURAL HOMES TEN YEARS ON IMPACT OF A DESIGN GUIDE Examining the results of homes designed that derived inspiration from guidelines published in the Cork Rural Design Guide: Building a New House in the Countryside, one of the original authors discusses how guidelines impact the built environment. The results demonstrate that quality architecture can be achieved by following guidelines, without hindrance to innovation or creativity, the traditional Irish white walled/ dark roofed home takes on various forms.
