Abstract

Although curtain walling designed to be fire resistant is possible, this path is rarely chosen due to its cost. According to the current National Fire Protection Regulations, a structure protected by active fire protection equipment – window sprinklers – without a fire resistance limit value can only be designed and installed on the basis of a real-scale, effective fire test. Our article looks for an answer for glazed structures with built-in fire extinguishers and curtain walls with limited heat resistance.
