Abstract
Taking a historical building and imposing upon it a new, yet reflective of the past, ideological set of values which enhances its original value to create a functional asset. War is often glorified for its heroic characteristics, here the aim was to address all aspects of a nation's military history, without any need for architectural sentimentality. Although this parasitic form of intervention/ addition can often be viewed in a negative light the balance between tradition and identity has, in this case, been evenly distributed.
