Abstract
The study – comprising some experiences of a more extensive research – is an attempt to continue the investigations into the changes of the cinema network in Hungary. It focuses first of all on two questions. What is a multiplex in the Hungarian and the West-European professional terminology? How did the appearance of the multiplexes reshape the spatial pattern of cinemas in Hungary? The basis for the survey was provided by the most authentic data banks: in the case of Europe by the MediaSalles (European Cinema Yearbooks, Newsletter “European Cinema Journal”); in the case of Hungary by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the National Film Office.
