Abstract

FLATCO APARTMENTS, BUDAPEST, HUNGARY; ARCHITECTS: ZSOLT HAJNAL and PÉTER KENDELÉNYI Mass housing estate or vertical housing estate, is this the new way to describe urban apartment blocks, or another form of advertising slogan? Developed for the rental market this project provides housing, car parking, commercial and co-housing facilities within close proximity to the city centre. The design being aimed at a younger target group, 20-35 years of age, looking for premium quality lifestyles and amenities. Time will tell if this social urban project succeeds in meeting the requirements of medium-term private investors and how it might impact the cityscape.
