Abstract

A Kárpát-medencei külhoni magyar közösségek társadalmi-gazdasági helyzetének összehasonlító vizsgálatára kézenfekvő megoldást kínálhat a statisztikai adatok elemzése. Ezt a tevékenységet azonban számos kihívás nehezíti, amikor különböző statisztikai rendszerek és adatforrások adatait kell egymással összevetni. Jelen tanulmány e kihívásokat és az ezekre adható lehetséges válaszokat tárja fel. Az adatok típusától függően statisztikai értelemben a külhoni magyarság helyzete alapvetően kétféle megközelítésben vizsgálható: az etnikai differenciálást is lehetővé tévő társadalomstatisztikai adatok kifejezetten a határon túli magyarság társadalmi-gazdasági pozícióiról tudósítanak; a területi statisztikai adatok használata pedig a magyarok által lakott térségek társadalmi és gazdasági struktúráinak elemzését teszi lehetővé. A tanulmány alapvetően e két eltérő vizsgálati mód mentén mutatja be és értékeli előbb a főbb szakirodalmi előzményeket, majd a külhoni magyarság társadalmi-gazdasági helyzetének vizsgálatára alkalmas különféle adatköröket. A közismert statisztikai adatkörök (népszámlálási és területi statisztikai adatok) mellett előtérbe kerülnek a kapcsolódó jelentősebb nemzetközi nagymintás adatfelvételek, valamint a kimondottan a külhoni magyar közösségek társadalmigazdasági helyzetének feltárását célzó fontosabb felmérések is. = For the comparative examination of the socio-economic situation of Hungarian minorities in the Carpathian Basin, the analysis of statistical data can offer an obvious solution. However, this activity is hampered by many challenges: data from different statistical systems and data sources need to be compared. This study explores these challenges and possible responses to them. Depending on the type of data, the situation of Hungarian minorities can be examined in two different ways: with the use of social statistics containing ethnic data, it is possible to specifically examine the socio-economic positions of Hungarian minorities; while the use of regional statistics enables the analysis of the social and economic structures of the areas inhabited by Hungarian minorities. It is basically these two different research methods along which our study presents and evaluates firstly the main literature on the topic, and then the various data sets suitable for examining the socioeconomic situation of Hungarian minorities. In addition to the more well-known statistical data sets (census and regional statistical data), the study also presents the related major international largescale surveys, as well as the main surveys aimed specifically at exploring the socio-economic situation of Hungarian minorities.
