Abstract
Movement dynamics of the striped field mouse were analysed on the basis of small mammal monitoring data gathered during a 10-year study period. The movement patterns were studied in relation to various forest and open mosaic habitats, in periods characterised with highly varying weather parameters. Our hypothesis i.e. the movement dynamics of the striped field mouse differ between habitats with different vegetation cover, was confirmed only for the drier, warm period when distances travelled by mouse individuals were highest in the mosaic grassland habitats. Data from the cooler and wetter period supported the alternative hypothesis i.e. there is no statistical difference between the habitats in their parameters of mouse dispersal movements.
