Abstract

George R.R. Martin A tűz és jég dala című regénysorozata az elmúlt évtizedben óriási népszerűségre tett szert, amelyhez nagyban hozzájárult az HBO által készített Trónok harca című sorozat is. Annak ellenére, hogy a regények és az adaptáció is a narratíva szerves részét képezik, és szoros kapcsolatban állnak egymással, a témában született kutatások nagy része külön-külön vizsgálta a két médiumtípust (Lowder, 2012; Battis, 2015; Carrol, 2018), és nem tért ki arra, hogy milyen kapcsolatban áll egymással a regénysorozat és az ebből készült adaptáció. Tanulmányomban felvázolom a Trónok harca univerzum működését, és Henry Jenkins elméletét használva rámutatok arra, hogy a Trónok harca egy igazi transzmediális narratívaként is érthető. | George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire became one of the most successful fantasy stories of the last decade, which is partly due to the huge popularity of the HBO adaptation called Game of Thrones. Although the novels and the adaptation are also integral parts of the narrative and are closely connected, most of the academic research was concentrating on the two types of media separately (Lowder, 2012; Battis, 2015; Carrol, 2018), and did not touch upon the special relationship of the epic fantasy saga and the television show. This paper outlines how the Game of Thrones universe works and proves that, based on Henry Jenkins’ theory, Game of Thrones is a true transmedia narrative.
