Abstract

This paper discusses deonymic word formations with first names as the last component in terms of their lexical meaning comparing German and Hungarian. The source material for the present analysis is provided by synchronic corpus examinations. The lexical meaning of the examined lexemes is composed of a bundle of semantic features, which are identified and listed with the help of an onomasiological dictionary. The onomasiological groups obtained in this way not only enable us to compare between German and Hungarian, but also to identify sex-specific differences in each of the two languages.
