Abstract
In the literature of working memory research, translators and interpreters have received particular attention. Other professions, however, are much less investigated by researchers, and there is a lack of exploratory work on students of different courses. In research concerning emotional intelligence, teachers have higher representation than translators and interpreters, but there is only limited work presenting the combination of cognitive and affective aspects. The work of translators, interpreters and teachers is particularly noteworthy in this respect: these professions require both the presence of affective factors and a high level of cognitive competence. The aim of the present review is to highlight that, if a comprehensive picture of a particular field is of interest, it is necessary to examine the specific factors, affective skills and abilities that predict the employee›s subsequent good performance and success in the job from different angles.
