Abstract

Majdnem fél évszázaddal az elsőt követően, 1896-ban, a millenniumi ünnepségek évében rendezték meg a második nevelésügyi kongresszust hazánkban. Mint a vonatkozó szak- irodalmakból ismert, az 1848 nyarán rendezett első magyarországi egyetemes tanítógyűlésen az óvodai nevelés és az óvodapedagógus-képzés kérdései nagy je- lentőséggel bírtak. A kutatás tanulmányunkban összefoglalt, főbb eredményei a követ- kezők: az óvodaügy kérdései és képviselői az első kongresszussal összevetve kisebb súlyt kaptak ezen a századvégi gyűlésen, bár volt egy önálló szakosztályuk. Talán az óvó- és tanítóképzés egyesítése volt a leginkább előremutató javaslat, ez azonban később nem vált valósággá. Főképp az óvodapedagógiai sajtóorgánum, a Kisdednevelés foglalkozott a kongresszus óvodaügyi vonatkozásaival. | The second education congress in Hungary in 1896 — the year of the millennium celebrations — was held nearly a half-century after the first congress. The relevant literature reveals that the first Hungarian universal teacher meeting in 1848 focused on kindergarten education and kindergarten tea|cher training issues. A special subcommittee dealt with the issues of childcare, and several forward-looking reform proposals emerged. Ferenc Ney, an outstanding representative of Hungarian kindergarten pedagogy at the time, was the president of the first universal teacher meeting. The domestic kindergarten system also developed significantly in the first half of the Dualism Era (1867-1918). The XV. Act on Childcare issued in 1891 reflected the results. The law was a significant step forward but left many unsolved problems. This presentation addressed the following research guestions. What were the main kindergarten problems discussed at the second education congress? Were the issues addressed the most pressing in the domestic kindergarten system? Were forward-looking answers available for problematic guestions? What was later realized from the goals set there? We also examine how significant the issues of kindergarten and the representatives of kindergarten pedagogy were at the second education congress. Furthermore, how did the kindergarten aspects of the educational congress appear in the pedagogical press of the time? What was the impact of the preparations, the event and its afterlife? We primarily examine issues of: “Kisdednevelés” — the professional newspaper for kindergarten teachers at that time — and “Néptanítók Lapja” published between 1894 and 1898. The following comprises the main research results. Compared to the first congress, the guestions and representatives of the kindergarten matter were given less weight at this meeting. Perhaps the most forward-looking proposal was the unification of kindergarten teacher and teacher training, but this did not materialize later. Mainly, the kindergarten pedagogy press organ, “Kisdednevelés”, dealt with the kindergarten aspects of the congress. Document analysis was the core method employed in the research. The specialized literature and articles on the topic published in the two professional journals are analyzed according to predetermined criteria.
