Abstract

A Republikánus Párthoz hasonlóan a demokraták körében is kimutatható egy világnézeti megosztottság, így Joseph R. Biden elnök külpolitikáját sem lehet egyetlen jelzővel leírni. Az elemzés célja, hogy beazonosítsa a demokrata külpolitikára hatást gyakorló politikai-ideológiai tényezőket, és azokon keresztül értelmezze a Biden-adminisztráció főbb külügyi kezdeményezéseit. Ennek megfelelően az elemzés két részből áll. Egyrészt a Demokrata Párt mai főbb szárnyainak a bemutatásából (az elnök saját pártján belüli politikai realitások ismertetése), valamint Biden elnöknek és külpolitikai csapatának a főbb irányzatok közötti elhelyezéséből (az új demokrata nemzedék által az amerikai külpolitika terén szorgalmazott ideológiai megújulás lényegének a felvázolása). Másrészt a bideni külpolitika főbb súlypontjainak – nevezetesen: a nemzetközi rendnek a geopolitikai és politikai-ideológiai realitások, valamint az amerikai középosztály gazdasági érdekei mentén történő újjáépítésének – a leírásából (a liberális, progresszív és baloldali megfontolásokra történő rávilágítás). | Similarly to the Republican Party, there is also a worldview divide among the Democrats as well, thus President Joseph R. Biden’s foreign policy cannot be described with a single attribute. The aim of this analysis is to identify the politicalideological factors affecting the democratic foreign policy, and to interpret the Biden administration’s main foreign policy initiatives through them. Accordingly, the analysis consists of two parts. On the one hand, it shows the main wings of the Democratic Party (explaining the political realities within the President’s own party), and sets the President Biden and his foreign policy team among these main directions (outlining the essence of the ideological renewal in foreign policy as encouraged by the new generation of Democrats). On the other hand, the analysis displays the main emphases of President Biden’s foreign policy, namely the rebuilding of the international order along geopolitical and political-ideological realities as well as economic interests of the American middle class (highlighting the respective liberal, progressive, and left-wing considerations)
