Abstract

Az inzulin felfedezése és az első inzulinkezelés évei Magyarországon a trianoni kábultság, az ország méltatlan és indokolatlan feldarabolása idejére estek. Az ország fennmaradása és kiharcolt történelmi helye megtartása szempontjából kulcsfontosságú volt, hogy lépést tudjon tartani a tudomány fejlődésével, megmaradjanak nemzetközi kapcsolatai a tudományos és a művészeti élet reprezentánsaival. A hazai inzulingyártás elindulása e törekvések megvalósulásának eklatáns példája. A közlemény áttekinti a magyarországi inzulingyártás közvetlen előzményeit és emléket állít azon kutatóknak, valamint nagyszámú, névvel nem ismert háttérbeli segítőiknek, akik hozzájárultak e munka sikeréhez. | T he years of discovery of insulin and the first human insulin treatment fell in Hungary into initial period of the Trianon daze, the unworthy and unjust dismemberment of the country. In order to keep the country afloat and to maintain its fought historical place, it was crucial to be able to keep pace with the development of science and to maintain its international relations with the representatives of scientific and artistic life. The start of domestic insulin production is an eclectic example of the realization of these aspirations. The paper reviews the immediate antecedents of insulin production in Hungary and commemorates the researchers and a large number of unnamed background contributors who contributed to the success of this work.
