Abstract

Jelen tanulmány célja Vas (vár)megye közigazgatásának a bemutatása a modern polgári állam kialakulásától napjainkig. A feladat összetett, hiszen határmenti, évszázadok óta többnemzetiségű vármegyeként a trianoni békeszerződés erősen megcsonkította, majd az 1950-es megyerendezés is erősen átalakította. A szocializmus ideje alatt a határmentiség újra hátrány lett, székhelye és kisvárosai dinamikusan fejlődtek, községei viszont számukban és önrendelkezésükben is fogyatkoztak. A változást az 1990-es politikai rendszerváltás hozta el, amely kb. egy évszázad után értékelte fel ezt a (vár)megyét, illetve településeit és adott nekik új esélyt a könnyebb boldogulásra. A terjedelmi korlátok miatt a tanulmány csak a főbb történelmi korszakok közigazgatási jogi kereteit és annak a megye településállományára lecsapódó főbb elemeit vizsgálta, mélyebb elemzések további kutatásokat igényelnek és várhatóan indítanak el. The aim of this paper is to present the administration of Vas (Castle) County from the establishment of the modern civil state to the present day. The task is complex, since as a border county with several nationalities for centuries, it was severely mutilated by the Treaty of Trianon and then severely transformed by the reorganization of the county in 1950. During the socialist era, the border status of the county was again a handicap, its seat and small towns developed dynamically, while its municipalities dwindled in number and self-determination. The change came with the political regime change in 1990, which, after a century or so, revalued this (castle) county and its municipalities and gave them a new chance to prosper. Due to space constraints, the study has only examined the administrative legal framework of the main historical periods and its main elements that affect the settlement population of the county, deeper analyses require and are expected to be initiated by further research.
