Abstract
The existence of world literature lies in the translations. We get a fairly particular aspect of this if we take a look at the female translators’ individual styles and translating profiles. Being adequate in translation means that the translated artifact also provides a specific cultural experience to the reader. Personal style can be captured when the choice of synonyms, the way of creating metaphors, the structure of sentences and its musicality harmonize with the text architecture and linguistic elements used in the translation. We take a look at and analyse these aspects in the personal translating styles of Hungarian female translators, who worked on Russian classical literature in the 20th century. We have chosen five female portraits who were not only translators but also artists on their own rights.
