Abstract
The first part of the current study provides an overview of the literature on the most important translation operations in journalistic translation. In the second part, a case study is presented, demonstrating translation operations in the media. Analysing the translation of a recent German article from daily newspaper Frankfurter Neue Zeitung into Hungarian, the author highlights the most important translation operations used by the journalist-translator of the weekly journal HVG: addition and omission of content, rearrangement, summarizing information and direct quotes. These operations demonstrate in the field of journalistic translation what Pym (2017a, 2017b) calls text tailoring.
