Abstract

A szamaritánusok definícióját sokféleképpen megfogalmazza a szakirodalom, melyben a hangsúly mindig a zsidósággal kapcsolatos egyfajta kisebbségi viszony áll, míg ők önmagukat az igazi Izraelnek, a Tóra megőrzőinek (שומרים) nevezik. Az eredetvitától eltekintve a Garizimon יהוה-t imádó közösségnek azonban volt egy olyan korszaka, amikor a Szentföld területén ők jelentették az őshonos többséget és emellett jelentős csoportjaik alakultak ki a diaszpórában is. A Római Birodalomnak az i.sz. első és ötödik század közötti időszaka ez a periódus, ekkor nemcsak népességben, de települések, vallásgyakorlat és irodalmi, teológiai tevékenységében is a zenitjére ért a közösség. Írásunkban ezt a korszakot mutatjuk be. | The definition of the Samaritans is variously formulated in the scholarly literature, with the emphasis always on a kind of minority relationship with Judaism, while they refer to themselves as the true Israel, the (only) keepers of the Torah (שומרים). However, the commuity worshipping יהוה on Mount Gerizim had a period when they were the indigenous majority in the Holy Land, while at the same time significant groups of them developed in the Diaspora. This period of the Roman Empire, between the first and fifth centuries CE, was the zenith of the community, not only in terms of population, but also in terms of settlements, religious activity and literary and theological activity. In this article, we describe this period.
