Abstract

Dolgozatomban bemutatom a Nyitrai Konstantin Filozófus Egyetem Közép-európai Tanulmányok Karán működő Magyar Nyelv- és Irodalomtudományi Intézet rövid történetét, és az ott folyó nyelvészeti kutatásokat is ismertetem. Továbbá beszámolok az intézetben folyó helyesírás-tanítás oktatási tapasztalatairól és a tehetséggondozásra is kitérek. Az intézet az eltelt több mint fél évszázad nehézségeit és a történelmi viszontagsá gokat leküzdve nemzetközi viszonylatban is elismert szellemi műhellyé vált. Széles körű oktatási és tudományos tevékenységet fejt ki, melynek alappillére a tehetséggondozás és az utánpótlás-nevelés. Az intézetben a tanulmányi programok jellegéből adódóan nagy hagyománya van a helyesírás tanításának, amely törzstantárgyak keretei között valósul meg. A tanulmányban megosztom az oktatási tapasztalataimat is, valamint vázolom a helyesírási ismeretek tanításának gyakorlatát. Mivel a hallgatók zöme nyelvjárási közegben szocializálódik, vizsgálom a nyelvjárási háttér helyesírásra gyakorolt hatá sait is. Végezetül beszámolok az intézetben zajló tehetséggondozó programokról és az utánpótlás-nevelésről is. | In my study, I reviewed the teaching of spelling and talent management within linguistics at the Institute of Hungarian Linguistics and Literary Science in Nitra. T he Institute has overcome the difficulties of more than half a century and historical adversity to become an internationally recognised intellectual institution. The Insti tute has a wide range of teaching and research activities, mainly talent management and training. Due to the nature of its study programmes, the Institute has a long tradition of teaching spelling as a core and optional subject. In the written language, too, there are linguistic forms other than those of the mother tongue, the acquisition of which is a priority. In this paper, I have shared my teaching experiences and outlined methods for teaching spelling. As most students are socialised in a dialect environment, I have also investigated the effects of the dialect background on spelling. T he most common spelling errors due to the dialect background of the students were related to the duration of vowels and consonants, which is why it would be necessary to reinforce and make the teaching of spelling to students from dialect backgrounds more effective. The study showed that frequent, conspicuous dialect phenomena generally do not influence spelling, which students more easily recognise. The types of errors resulting from dialect pronunciation require more intensive practice. Regional variations in error types can be observed, and therefore, mapping dialect-induced type errors by region could increase the efficiency of spelling instruction for students from dialect backgrounds. Similar factors may be behind the spelling deficiencies of Hungarian secondary school students in Slovakia, where spelling instruction is not given importance.
