Abstract

A tanulmány célja a magyar egyetemi hallgatók idegennyelv-tanulása során szerzett tapasztalatainak és véleményének vizsgálata magyarországi környezetben. A cikk elsőként az 1989 óta bekövetkezett változásokat mutatja be az idegennyelv-tanulás és azok szabályainak és követelményeinek tekintetében a magyarországi köz- és felsőoktatásban. Ezt követően megismerhetjük a Miskolci Egyetemen tanuló magyar hallgatók egy kis csoportjának (n = 209) nyelvtanulási tapasztalatait, a nyelvtanulás során felmerülő kihívásokat és a résztvevők javaslatait is a magyarországi idegennyelv-oktatás fejlesztésére. Az adatgyűjtés kérdőíves módszerrel történt, a magyar nyelvű kérdőív zárt és nyitott kérdéseket, valamint Likert-skálákat tartalmazott. Az eredmények rávilágítottak arra, hogy a megkérdezetteknek a legnagyobb kihívást a nyelvtan használata, a magyar nyelvről idegen nyelvre történő fordítás, a nyelvtan megértése, a szóbeli kommunikáció, és a hallott szöveg értése jelentette. | The aim of the paper is to examine Hungarian university students’ views and experiences of learning foreign languages in the monolingual and monocultural environment of Hungary. The first part of the article shows what foreign languages have been taught in Hungarian educational institutions since 1989, and it also presents the regulations and requirements of foreign language competence in Hungary. The paper describes the foreign language learning experiences and challenges of Hungarian university students (n = 209) attending the University of Miskolc and presents their suggestions for the improvement of teaching foreign languages. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The Hungarian questionnaire contained both closed and open-ended questions and Likert scales. The results demonstrated that the greatest challenges for the respondents included using grammar, translating from Hungarian into a foreign language, understanding grammar, oral communication and listening comprehension.
