Abstract
This paper argues that the Anatolian explanation of Ugaritic Akkadian and Ugaritic ḫuburta/inuru ‘a Hittite high dignitary’ is formally false and the previously proposed Hurrian derivation is superior. The combination of the contexts (dual office) and a previously proposed etymology leads to its identification as GAL GEŠTIN.
