Abstract
This paper argues that rhotacism was a productive phonological process in Luwian already in the 2nd millennium. This argument provides a formally and semantically better‑fitting solution than the one proposed by Süel and Weeden (2019) to identify the personal name on a silver signet ring from Ortaköy.
