Abstract
The present paper is a chapter of a longer study. The author presents here some results of his longer researches and raises some problems he faced in his work. He describes the most important characteristics of family names from the former Bereg county. In this paper he gives examples from 20 settlements (13 in the Ukraine and 7 in Hungary).
